Eastbourne Rovers Track and Field report on Sussex Indoor Championships

Eastbourne Rovers sprinters travelled to Sutton to compete in the Sussex Indoor championships.

U15 Josie Usher was the star of the day. Competing for the first time at this event and against athletes a year older she stormed to victory in her heat with an impressive 8.45 secs. This qualified her for the final where she crossed the line in 2nd place for the silver medal in 8.54secs. Training partner Jemima Scott is more suited to the longer sprints but used this event for speedwork and to gain experience at running indoors. She came 4th in her race.

Dylan Brudenell ( U20) was very unlucky to miss out on a lane in the final coming 3rd in his race in 7.58 secs.

In the field events it was the turn of Harriet Armstrong to contest the U20 girls triple jump. She produced a good set of jumps, with a best of 10.59 to secure another silver medal.

Cara Maker is getting back her outdoor form from last season as she leapt over 5m in the senior long jump. Her jump of 5m06 clinched another silver medal for the ‘Rovers Camp’. Cara was happy with this performance preparing her for the British Masters Indoor championships in March.
