Eastbourne Rovers Athletics Report on indoor competition

Eastbourne Rovers Athletes have started the indoor season in fine form. A small contingent travelled to the Le Valley Athletic Centre , which is the nearest stadium to compete in the London Games.

Bryn smith smashed his personal best in the 60m firstly from 7.06 to 7.03 and then in his second race broke the 7sec barrier for a first place in his race with an amazing 6.95secs. Bryn also produced his fastest opener in the 200m race coming second in 22.1 secs.

Shania Martlew also produced a good opener close to her best with 8.15 in the 60m. She is hoping to get closer to the 8 secs barrier in the Sussex Indoor championships in February.

Earlier in the month Cara Maker got her first long jump competition under her belt, leaping 4,94. She will now be ready to clear 5m again once the indoor season is in full swing.

Coach – Sue Keen was thrilled with these early performances and said ‘the athletes were now ready to build on these in the future indoor competitions’.
