AGM
The Club's AGM took place at the sports park on Thursday 3rd December. The meeting started in a very positive mood with chairman Sue Keen's report on the individual and team successes throughout 2009, including international representation and World Championship achievements at one end and growing numbers in the younger age groups at the other. The club itself is now applying the final "tweaks" to obtain the prestigious Clubmark accreditation and has continued to train coaches and officials. Financially, the Club has made a great effort to keep athletics affordable by it's own fund raising efforts and attracting sponsorship. A very well deserved round of thanks were given to all committee members, team managers, coaches, officials and helpers whose tireless efforts keep our sport alive and thriving. The message was clear, the Club is looking forward to 2010 with enthusiasm, we could all achieve success if when we train hard.
SPORTSHALL 1
The first of the sportshall competitions for this season was held on Sunday 15th November at Tanbridge school in Horsham. Six clubs from all over
Sussex were present, with Eastbourne Rovers being represented in all three age groups – Under 15’s, Under 13’s and Under 11’s. Although no notable results were achieved for the club this time all the athletes enjoyed an afternoon of indoor athletics comprising of activities such as the 2 lap race, relay, speed bounce, standing long jump, vertical jump and shotput. All the athletes had a very busy afternoon and on behalf of Eastbourne Rovers we would like to congratulate them on their efforts and the good sportsmanship which was displayed. The club’s largest squad at this event was the Under 11’s who are featured in the picture after competing in all the events. If you are 9 or over and interested in becoming involved with a local athletics club, get in touch with Christine Dolan, Jayne Caplen for the Under 13’s or Loretta Lock for the Under 11’s.
